Make Awesome Bags and Wallets with Winter Session

Tanya Fleisher and Roy Katz met in high school. They found each other again in their 20s, and together lived in L.A., Bombay and Chicago, where they got married. Roy is an architect and Tanya an artist, but Winter Session started as a side project.

What You'll Get

Handmade Awesomeness - Winter Session does all of its leather work in house. You'll handcraft your bag or wallet with experts who understand leather inside and out.

High-Quality Materials - Roy and Tanya source their own raw materials. The canvas is 100-percent cotton. They source vegetable-tanned leather from the Horween factory in Chicago, one of most respected names in United States leather.

About Winter Session

Tanya Fleisher and Roy Katz of Winter Session

Tanya Fleisher and Roy Katz of Winter Session

Winter Session began in 2010 in a storefront apartment in Chicago. Roy Katz and Tanya Fleisher (along with their neighborhood barista and friend, Tristan Coulter, now co-owner of Gaslight Coffee Roasters), began sewing bags and aprons as a way to explore new creative ideas and channel their past experiences in art, design and architecture. What began as a side project gathered momentum as they forayed into leatherwork, acquired heavier sewing machines, and brought on friends and acquaintances to help with production. In early 2013, Winter Session left Chicago to establish a new home base in Denver, CO.

Winter Session's ongoing mission is to design and produce thoughtful, well-made things in a responsible manner. Operating on a flexible scale, we combine traditional methods and innovative technology to find a balance between utilitarian function, durability and aesthetic appeal. We work hard to create affordable, high quality products meant to last. As for the story behind the name Winter Session...you'll have to ask them in person sometime.

Winter Session Outpost, our workshop and storefront, is located in the Five Points neighborhood of Denver. We design and make a majority of our canvas and leather goods right here in our shop, while maintaining a display and retail area stocked with current WS products along with a curated collection of goods from other designers and makers.

The three of us…were talking about how we missed working with our hands. We wanted to work on a project from home with materials that we had...We were interested in things that you wear against your body, on your body…useful and functional accessories.
