Create a Braided Leather Bracelet
Description - This unisex style bracelet is one of my favorites and also one of my most popular designs. We will work together so you will learn the secret folds to create a “closed braid.” You will get an overview about veg tanned leathers and how they change and oxidize over time. We’ll cut leather, finish the edges, learn to braid, mold the shape and add a closure. I’ll also show you how to condition leather and achieve a great patina right from the beginning.
You’ll be able to go home with your own handmade leather bracelet that will get better the more it’s worn and the older it gets.
This experience will be held at my studio in downtown Boulder. All materials and tools are included. The class should take 1.5 - 2 hours.
Cost - $75 per person for group sizes of up to five people.
The example example shown is 1.5” wide but we can make 1” or 2” wide bracelets as well.
We require a $25 deposit to book your experience. The next step is easy: we'll contact you within 24 hours of receiving your deposit to get started.

Create a Classic T-Bar Leather Pouch
Description - There is something wonderful about leather. The feel, the smell and the way that it just gets better with age and use. Each bag is different with its own characteristics, depending on the quality you use and how you finish the hide.
This project is great for a beginner who has never worked with leather before. By the time you finish this project you will have a basic understanding of how to cut leather, what tools work best for making and finishing your straps, how to apply rivets, add a zipper, and punch a detail that will make your bag unique. You will also have the satisfaction of taking home a leather bag that was made by you.
Bags can be made in chocolate, mocha, red, black, charcoal, and natural. All hardware, tools and materials are included.
This experience will be held at my studio in downtown Boulder and should take between 2-3 hours.
Cost - $150 per person for group sizes of up to five people.
The example example shown is 9”w x 7”h.

Make Your Favorite Leather Evening Bag
Description - With six different leather colors to choose from, you’ll be able to make and go home with your new favorite leather clutch. This style is one of my favorites as I like the addition of some solid brass hardware that stands out on such a simple bag.
This project is great for a beginner that has never worked with leather before. By following the bag making process, you will be introduced to some essential leather working tools and techniques that you can apply to making your clutch. We will work together to cut the leather, use the proper tools to cut the strap, and you’ll learn how to finish the edges like a professional. You’ll be introduced to hand presses when you attach the grommet and rivet. Basic sewing skills are good to have but not necessary.
Bags can be made in chocolate, mocha, red, black, charcoal, and natural.
The experience will be held at my studio in downtown Boulder and should take 2-3 hours. All materials and tools are included.
Cost - $150 per person for group sizes of up to five people.
The example example shown is 11 1/2”w x 6”h.
We require a $25 deposit to book your experience. The next step is easy: we'll contact you within 24 hours of receiving your deposit to get started.

About Elke Bergeron and by elke
by elke specializes in making one-of-a-kind or small-run handmade leather bags and accessories. We like to incorporate a story into each bag that makes it unique and is a big part of the attraction and attachment for our customers. Whether its repurposing World War II leather suspenders and horse bridles for straps or creating bags from antique fabrics and vintage military packs, each piece is made one-at-a-time with attention to the smallest details.
Having a small creative studio allows us to keep evolving with the times and the season so the line always looks fresh and contemporary while keeping the main thread of the story very classic. You never know what materials you may find that will dictate a look and lead you in a whole different direction. It’s the “not knowing” that keeps it fun and challenging.
